The Philosopher Investor vs TradingView
TradingView is the charting platform most traders know, with a large community, custom scripts and a screener you set up yourself. It is where a lot of people draw their levels and share ideas.
TradingView is the best charting platform available and its community scripts are unmatched. It shows you any name you ask for. The Philosopher Investor does the asking: it reads the whole US market after each close and tells you which names are worth charting in the first place.
What TradingView is great at
- Some of the best charts on the web, on every device.
- A big library of community indicators and a social feed.
- A screener you can configure to your own rules.
What we do differently
- Where TradingView is a charting platform, this is a nightly ranked list of the names worth trading, each with a read on why.
- The homework is done: catalysts with their source and date, the levels, and who is positioning in the name.
- It pairs well with TradingView. We publish our own TradingView indicators, so you can chart our picks on the platform you already use.

Common questions
Do I still need TradingView?
Yes, and we assume you have it. The desk tells you which names deserve a chart; TradingView is where you look at them. Our indicator suite is written for TradingView precisely because we expect that is where you work.
Can TradingView screen the whole market for me?
It has a capable screener, so mechanically yes. What it does not do is rank the results, resolve conflicts between overlapping screens, or tell you why a name showed up. You get a list; the judgement stays yours.
What is the difference between a TradingView alert and this?
An alert fires when a condition you defined is met. That is only as good as the condition, and it says nothing about whether the market backdrop supports the trade. The desk looks at the name, the flow, the levels and the regime together before it puts anything in front of you.
Does the indicator suite work on the free TradingView plan?
The scripts run on the free tier. The limit you may hit there is the number of indicators allowed per chart, which is a TradingView plan constraint rather than something specific to these.
